TROIA - Technologie a demokracie/společnost a kontrola?

Název TROIA je kryptonym, odkazující k technických nástrojům robotiky a terminologie programátorů, používanými jako "chytří agenti" tedy prostředky, které na příkazy reagují téměř autonomně. Další význam "agenta" se vztahuje k oblasti výzvědných služeb a utajovaným strategiím politických kruhů. (Bio)chemici označují plyn a jiné aktivní látky jako "agent". Vedle historického kontextu je název TROIA propojen také s evropským kulturním dědictvím, hranicemi demokracie a s kořeny západní civilizace. Mezinárodní umělecký projekt určený pro veřejnou doménu "Troia" (Temporary Residens of intellingent Agents) formuluje a tematizuje otázky a nejistoty, týkající se každého, kdo žije ve společnosti s neustále se rozmáhajícími autonomními a technopolitickými kontrolními systémy. Nad kterými možná nenápadně, ale jistě ztrácíme přehled i kontrolu.

Mezinárodní projekt a diskuse naznačují nejen témata ohrožení občanského soukromí a svobod, ale i možnosti aplikace pokročilé telekomunikační a nanotechnologie pro umělecké a tvůrčí účely.

On the one hand, the title TROIA as a cryptonym refers to the technical instruments made available to the performers and visitors. In robotics and in the terminology of programmers an "intelligent agent" is a tool acting autonomously according to certain instructions. The second level of meaning of "agent" refers of course to the domain of spying and to the underhand methods of political interests. As well (bio)chemists call gas and other active substances an agent. Apart from the archaeological context TROIA as a concept is related to the European cultural heritage, to the critical lines of democracy and to the roots of occidental civilization. The Culture2000 project deals with questions which are connected to everybody who lives in a community running under increasingly autonomous technological and technopolitical control systems. The community may gradually lose the control over its own system. International project and discussion shed the light the theme of fragility of civic privacy, but also the chances to apply the developed telecommunication and nano- technologies for artistic and creative area.
