Foundation Hicter - ITTACA seminars

Seminář, který pořádá bruselská Hicterova nadace pro umělce a kulturní organizátory je zaměřený na rozvoj kulturní a umělecké práce, která se zabývá současnými politickými a sociálními tématy. Přihlášky nutno podat do 1. října 2004.

These seminars are designed for artists and cultural practitioners aiming at developing a cultural or artistic work connected with contemporary political and social issues.

ITTACA is an educational experience fostering the understanding of contemporary cultural issues.Its main goal is to produce educational tools enabling teachers, students and professionals to develop a critical knowledge about the role of cultural practice in the current society. The ITTACA seminars are project-driven. Each participant has to develop and realize his/her project in the framework of the course. Participant’s works will be subject to a public presentation.

The issues addressed during these seminars will concern:
- Culture/Politics : theoretical tensions and ambiguous praxis
- Collaboration and critique (relations with power)
- New territories (glocalization, urban strategies and periphery)
- Cultural co-operation and cultural networking.

Finance
A grant will be given to the selected participant in order to cover the production of the ?nal result of his/her work and his/her participation to the project. The grant amounts 5,500 euros (2,500 Euros for the production costs and 3000 Euros for participant’s involvement). Travels and accommodation during the seminars are at the expenses of ITTACA coordination.

Selection
A jury will select 5 participants on the basis of the project submitted through the attached application form. The selection is based on existing quali?cations and relevant work experience, as well as on the quality and feasibility of the submitted project.The jury takes into account the potential of the candidate.

The quality of the proposal depends of:
- the respect of the formal conditions of the application form (the requested information should be complete and precise)
- the relevance of the project with the frame of ITTACA (political and social dimensions, prospective view on culture and art practitioner’s implication in the society ) and its theoretical background
- the feasibility of the project (realistic view of the budget, planning, etc.

Planning
The application should be submitted before 1st of October 2004 (dead line).
The ?nal selection will be announced before the 1st of November 2004 The ?rst seminar will be held in February 2005 (one week).
The second seminar will be held in June 2005 (one week).
The evaluation seminar will be held in September 2005 ( 2-3 days).
The ?nal presentation (public event) is scheduled for January 2006.
The seminars will take place in 2 countries in Europe. Between the seminars participant will go back to their countries and will work on their project in interaction with the pedagogic team.
