OSI - grant na povzbuzení nových způsobů prezentace dokumentární fotografie publiku

New York, USA
Projekt Open Society Institute New York hodlá podpořit nové způsoby prezentace dokumentární fotografické tvorby publiku. Grant ve výši 5 000 až  30 000 amerických dolarů má fotografům napomoci ukázat veřejnosti inovativním a přiměřeným způsobem významný fotografický projekt s tematikou sociální spravedlnosti tak, aby jejich práce přispěla ke konstruktivním sociálním změnám. Žádosti je nutné poslat do 30. září 2005.

A Grant to Encourage New Ways of Presenting Documentary Photography to the Public
The Documentary Photography Project of the Open Society Institute is pleased to announce the fall competition for a grant to encourage new ways of presenting documentary photography to the public. The grant enables photographers who have already completed a significant project on issues of social justice to present the work to the public in innovative and appropriate ways, ensuring that the work gains critical exposure and also has the greatest chance to stimulate constructive social change.

All projects submitted for consideration must have another institution that agrees to financially and practically support its distribution (such as a nongovernmental organization, publisher, website, or gallery), and will collaborate with the photographer to use the work to promote social change. Grants of $5,000 to $30,000 will be awarded.

Eligibility
Proposals must address current social justice issues and successfully answer the question, “Why this issue, at this time, in this place?”
Proposals must present strong images.
Proposals must have innovative strategies for presenting the work to the public. Preference will be given to projects that connect work with audiences that would not normally be exposed to the issue or use local culture as a mechanism for distribution.
Applicants must partner with an organization that will provide financial and programmatic support. Partner organizations may include (but are not limited to) NGOs, public spaces, schools, government institutions, online ventures, publishers, galleries, or museums. Note: A partner is not an entity only willing to publish or exhibit work when a photographer brings all resources to the table.
Preference will be given to work that coincides with the issues and geographical areas that concern OSI.
Ineligible Projects
The following are ineligible for funding:

projects trying to raise awareness in a general way;
book publishing absent a larger project/user for the book;
projects where the photographer must bring all financial resources to the partner;
photography exhibitions that serve only the photographer’s or gallery’s interests;
long-term projects that have already received significant funding, unless the request is for a new idea;
dated material, unless the project serves a historical purpose;
production support;
documentary film.
OSI cannot support lobbying activities. Projects that include lobbying activities will not be funded. OSI does not discriminate on the basis of gender, race, religion, ethnicity, or sexual orientation.

Application Information
Applicants must submit four sets of the following documents. All documents must be submitted on three-hole punched, letter-size (8.5” by 11”) paper. Do not staple or bind the documents.
