APPLICATION 2008

ELIGIBILITY
Applicants should work professionally as artists. Artistic media may include painting, sculpture, digital art, mixed media, photography, film and video as well as performance art. Applicants from all over the world are
welcome, but should have sufficient knowledge of English or German.

AVAILABLE TERMS OF RESIDENCE
There are three possible terms to choose. Applicants should indicate
clearly in their application which term they apply for (of course open
applications are possible, too).
· I. January - April 2008
· II. May - August 2008
· III. September - December 2008

BENEFITS and CONDITIONS
*blumen* artist residency provides its residents the following supports:
· allocation of a studio room and living space for the whole period of
stay including rental and fixed running charges with basis for
telephone/internet
· organisation of an opening and final exhibition, and further events in
arrangement with the resident
· support in visa and entry
· compensation of arrival and departure travelling expenses
· partial financing of production costs due to the capacities of
*blumen* e.V.

If accepted, the artist gets a housing contract including the housing rules,  guideline on financial supports and technical instructions. The residence stay is considered as legally effective only after the resident has signed
the housing contract.

There is obligation for residence. Eligible artists must spend a minimum of 15 hours per week in the studio or will be asked to leave the program.

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
Please write your first and last name on each page. Applications must include, in the following order:
1. Visual Material
Please do not send internet links or original artworks. Visual material up
to 10 images/ 3MB can be sent by e-mail, larger numbers by post.
· File Format: GIF, JPG or TIFF
· File Size: total files no larger than 3 MB!
· Image Size: 1000 pixels max.
· Image Resolution: 72 dpi
OR
Video in parts or as documentation etc. (DVD only, no VHS) by
post
Artists working in media mentioned above are asked to send excerpts of latest works or video documentation by post (please no film-stills!). Label the disc with first and last name. For easier viewing, separate each work
into chapters. Each segment should be not longer than 3 minutes. Include at least one complete version of a work or documentation.
2. Image / Video or Documentation Script
Please add a script including title, date completed, dimensions, medium,
and if necessary, a brief description, in chronological order and
corresponding to the order of your images or video.
3. Curriculum Vitae
Please include name, date of birth, address, phone and email along with
educational and exhibition background.
4. Artist's Statement
Brief text describing your current artistic work and process.
5. Statement of Objectives
Brief text describing the plans and projects you would undertake during
the residence in *blumen*. It is important that you mark your preferred
period of stay (s. above).
6. SASE (self-addressed stamped envelope)
If you wish that we return your application material (video etc.) please
enclose an envelope with your address and sufficient postage.
International Reply Coupons must be stamped.

Deadline for all applications is June 30, 2007.

NOTIFICATION
Successful applicants will be notified no later than September 1, 2007.
A legal claim for the award of a residence place does not exist. Therefore,
the applicant will be informed about the decision in written form, but without explanation.
