Outline
We are very happy to be OUT and about with Larzish II after the spectacular success the festival was last year, which was it’s first. In 2003, the journey of Larzish started with the three day festival in Bombay. It was interspersed with performances and panel discusions on Gender, Sexuality and what it means to be Queer in contemporary India.

Since the festival is so unique and had such an overwhelming response, the best of larzish in has travelled extensively to different festivals in Delhi, Pune, World Social Forum 2004 and now to Queer Zagreb FM in Croatia.

Larzish like last year, is planned as a free public event in keeping with our belief that art should be accessible to everyone. As you read these lines, know that you are also part of the process that is Larzish: The tremors of a revolution.

What are we looking for?
The films and videos we are looking for should primarily address sexuality and gender issues. They could be made in any genre, i.e. feature length, fiction, shorts, experimental, documentary, animation or mixed media presentations.

Our agenda is to primarily create a forum for showcasing works emerging from South-East Asia, Middle East, Africa, Latin America as well as other parts of the world.
This festival is a political tool to generate more visibility, facilitate a public discourse and celebrate our various existences while complimenting already existing and on going work within the queer movement in India.

This year we are specially looking for works under the following themes apart from a general call for entries:

  • HIV/AIDS
  • QUEERS & DISABILITY/DIFFERENTLY ABLED
  • QUEER & WAR / MILITARY / RIGHT WING / GLOBALIZATION
  • QUEER & RELIGION
  • QUEER ANIMATIONS
  • QUEER EXPERIMENTAL FILMS/VIDEOS (including those that usually remain in fine art/gallery/exhibition space)
  • BISEXUALITY
  • WORKS BY QUEERS THAT INCORPORATES QUEERNESS BUT NOT NECESSARILY AS A CENTRAL THEME AND IS PERHAPS ADDRESSING A WIDE RANGE OF ELEMENTS ABOUT OUR LIVES
  • QUEER YOUTH
  • ALTERNATIVE FAMILIES & FAMILIAL RELATIONS

Larzish is a not for profit event. Our funds enable us to manage only the infrastructure and administrative costs for organising the festival. For the same reasons we are unable to pay any screening fees to the filmmakers but do take care of the one way return of master copies by courier.

Regards,
Tejal & Natasha
On behalf of Larzish
